About the Post
We are seeking to appoint a Midday Supervisor to join our team.
Children eat their lunches in our dining hall for those taking hot meals, or in the classroom for those who bring packed lunches. Lunchtime supervisors are required: to set up dining tables prior to the lunch break, assist with other duties for those taking hot meals, supervise children both during the meal and play time, and at the end of the break, clean and tidy away the furniture. For this reason, the post involves some lifting and handling.
Stourfield Junior School is a large community school with approximately 460 pupils and 60 staff. Our aim is that all the children at our school grow into responsible, caring members of society who are confident, independent, lifelong learners. We are a tremendously nurturing and inclusive school and believe that pupil performance and well-being go hand in hand. We are a member of Twynham Learning - an exciting multi-academy trust of ambitious infant, junior and secondary schools serving the local community. Its aim is to offer this generation of children, young people and those involved in their education the very best leadership, teaching and learning, professional development and support services.
What we can offer you
- By working at our school, you will be making a positive contribution to our local community
- An opportunity to work with wonderful children
- Automatic membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Free on-site parking
Who we are looking for
The school works hard to promote a positive atmosphere at lunch times and our key priority is to appoint someone who can support us with this aim. The key qualities for this job are:
- the ability to relate to children and support them in the playground context;
- readiness to undertake some lifting and handling of tables and chairs (manual handling training will be provided);
- the ability to work as part of a team;
- good communication skills;
- a calm, patient manner.
