About the Post

 

We are looking to appoint an exceptional and inspirational teacher of Modern Foreign Languages (French with Spanish) to join our highly successful MFL department. This is a very rare and exciting opportunity to join an already high-performing subject area and to support the vision for excellence being developed by our Head of MFL and the wider languages team.

 

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

 

  • Teach French to Key Stage 4 (with potential KS5 teaching) and Spanish at Key Stage 3
  • Further improve outcomes in MFL
  • Contribute to the further development of the Twynham Learning MFL curriculum 
  • Passionately promote the disadvantaged agenda working with exceptional colleagues to provide our students with the very best life chances
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies

Essential:

  • An honours degree (or equivalent) in Spanish or French with the ability to teach both at Key Stage 3
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience of improving outcomes for students in MFL as a classroom teacher
  • Successful experience of teaching MFL across Key Stage 3-4
  • An understanding of effective pedagogy
  • Committed to supporting the vision of Twynham TGS
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Ability to travel independently between local schools/sites
  • High-energy and passionate individual with a clear moral purpose which is driven by a desire to improve the life chances of young people.
  • Highly emotionally resilient
  • A reflective practitioner with a history of expertise in classroom pedagogy and the ability to improve outcomes for students
  • An ability to inspire and relate well to the whole community.
  • An emotionally intelligent colleague who can adapt to a range of situations and communicate with various stakeholders including students, parents and other colleagues and professionals.
  • A team player who is comfortable in both providing and responding to professional challenge.
  • A commitment to and evidence of professional development of both yourself and others
  • A commitment to engaging with evidence and research to inform practice
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic with a positive “can-do” attitude and a solution-focused approach.
  • A sense of humour

 

 

Desirable:

  • Spanish specialism
  • Ability to teach Spanish or French to A-level
  • Ability to teach an additional subject beyond MFL
  • Ambitious for future school leadership
  • Experience of working in a high performing school
  • Experience of working within a multi-academy trust
  • Ability to analyse and present data coherently
  • Experience of leading school trips and a commitment to the encouraging extra-curricular activities
